Van Leeuwen invest heavily in carbon steel pipes, fittings and flanges

Van Leeuwen significantly increase their UK stocks of carbon steel pipes, fittings and flanges to focus on expanding their market share in the UK.

The Van Leeuwen Pipe & Tube Group are internationally renowned as a market leader for the distribution of pipes, fittings and flanges, mainly into the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors.

The acquisition of Benteler Distribution towards the end of 2019 strengthened the position of Van Leeuwen Limited across the UK market, placing them in a strong position for tube and bar distribution into the Mechanical Engineering and Hydraulics Sector.

In December 2021, I visited their Brierley Hill branch and spoke with Jill Clements, Business Manager (Energy), and Kris Bowling, Commercial Director, who explained why they are investing heavily in increasing their stock of carbon steel pipes, fittings and flanges in the UK.

“In the UK we have a technically proficient sales team for these products who have over the years secured and executed many medium to larger sizes projects using a mixture of group stocks and sourcing from our many approved supply partners,” Kris told me.

“We feel the time is right to build on this solid base and take advantage of the global strength of the group. We therefore intend to significantly increase our UK stocks of carbon steel pipes, fittings and flanges to focus on growing our customer base further.

“By leveraging our existing robust and effective distribution network we feel we can meet the needs of this sector, no matter how small or large the requirement is.

“Our intention is to replicate our position within the industrial segments and over the next few years become the UK market leader for distribution of PFF into the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors.”

Van Leeuwen plan to invest a considerable amount in increasing their full range of carbon steel stock, and will distribute it all around the UK from their sites across the country.

At the time of my visit in December 2021, the investment was already approved and the stock was due to arrive in Q1 2022. With the strength and experience of the Benteler Distribution network, now operating under the Van Leeuwen brand, the company are looking to quickly and radically alter the carbon steel marketplace in the UK.
